Les \u00e9volutions rapides de la mortalit\u00e9 constat\u00e9es dans les pays industrialis\u00e9s depuis 1950, les incertitudes entourant les tendances futures conjugu\u00e9es \u00e0 la faiblesse persistante des taux d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat rendent d\u00e9sormais tr\u00e8s difficile, si pas impossible, la commercialisation des rentes viag\u00e8res classiques. Ceci a amen\u00e9 plusieurs auteurs \u00e0 reconsid\u00e9rer cette couverture d\u2019assurance pour lui pr\u00e9f\u00e9rer sa forme mutualiste ancestrale, vid\u00e9e des multiples garanties qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 progressivement greff\u00e9es sur le produit au fil du temps. Cette forme \u00e9pur\u00e9e du partage du risque individuel de long\u00e9vit\u00e9 semble particuli\u00e8rement attrayante \u00e0 l\u2019heure o\u00f9 les assureurs ont pris conscience de l\u2019ampleur des risques de d\u00e9rive \u00e0 long terme de la mortalit\u00e9 et de la difficult\u00e9 de les g\u00e9rer. Cette approche permettrait \u00e9galement de r\u00e9soudre les probl\u00e8mes pos\u00e9s par le fait que les valeurs de rachat ne d\u00e9pendent pas de l\u2019\u00e9tat de sant\u00e9 de l\u2019assur\u00e9, ce qui a entra\u00een\u00e9 la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019un march\u00e9 secondaire des life settlements.<\/p>
